An interesting research done by ZDNet Asia titled "Asia: Hotbed for IT jobs " reveals interesting statistics that IT personel are a shortage in Asia, resulting in higher wages.
The survey was conducted on the Internet between Aug. 25 and Nov. 6, 2006, and drew 5,090 respondents from key industry sectors such as government, health care, IT, services, telecommunications, legal and finance. The study covered Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
Among the key findings: IT professionals command the highest pay in Hong Kong, with an overall average annual salary of HK$404,144 (US$51,964), followed by Singapore at S$64,943 (US$41,601). Surprisingly, Thailand is in third place with an average of THB 994,203 (US$27,044).
What is the source of these figures? I dont think these figures are authentic

I agree that the figure regarding Thailand may not be appropriate.
Unless the writer is referring to the true IT professionals, which should occupy only a small fraction of the IT employees, I think the average pay in Thailand is only a third of the number mentioned, i.e., $750/month or $9000/year. And even this figure is considered high for most Thai working in IT.

I think Thailand is not really so good in IT payer. even you are thailand native you cant earn better than Indian in India in IT sector, in general. If you say exceptions many earn more than 60k USD in India too.

I would use Indian web designers over Thais anytime. Thais don't have a good command of English, Indians do, and Indians appear the be far better educated. Am I wrong?

YOU KNOW 99% OF INDIAN HAVE TO WORK WITH OTHER INDIANS AS THAI DO NOT EMPLOY INDIANS - AND YOU KNOW INDIAN BLOOD SUCKER EMPLOYEE WILL NOT PAY THIS HIGH SALARY TO SOFTWARE PEOPLE.
THAILAND IS THE WORST COUNTRY FOR INDIANS BOTH LOCALS AND EX PARTS (THAI OR INDIAN CITIZENS) - THAI PEOPLE ONLY ACCEPT FARANGS/JAPANESE BUT NOT INDIANS. YOU COUNT NOS OF INDIANS WORKING WITH NON INDIAN COMPANY.
IN HONGKONG/SINGAPORE/USA PEOPLE EMPLOY ON MERIT AND INDIANS HAVE VERY WIDE OPTIONS
