The indian ambassador opens the Great Indian Education Fair 2009"The Great Indian Education Fair 2009" is currently taking place on January 31- February 1 ( 10.00 am- 7.00 pm) at Zone A at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC), Reception Area of Ballroom.

The Official Opening Ceremony was presided over by the Ambassador of India to Thailand Her Excellency Latha Reddy. The Ambassador accompanied by representatives from key event supporters, namely Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB); India-Thai Chamber of Commerce; the fair organizer AFAIRS Exhibitions & Media Pvt. Ltd.; and other special guests conducted a tour around the exhibition area after the ceremony.

The Great Indian Education Fair has already attracted a lot of Thai students since it was first held in Bangkok. Starting today, the Fair is expected to receive 1,000 enrollees from Thailand.

A Congratulatory Remark was given by Mr. D.K. Bakshi, the Executive India-Thai Chamber of Commerce and Vice President Global Human Resources - Indorama Group, Thailand. Mr. Bakshi also included by saying Her Excellency Latha Reddy, in spite of being in Thailand in a short period, had gained a popularity within the Thai community.

 

Mr.Bakshi even mentioned that Thai people think and feel India as the most powerful place for an education. Adding to the speech, he said, it is an opportunity to meet beautiful people in institutes in India. Being an Executive of India-Thai Chamber of Commerce, he added, their stall is there to help and assist in any joint venture of schools and colleges to help the Thai's. It is also a good chance to build relation between Thailand and INdia.

Mr. D.K. Bakshi concluded by thanking Mr. Sanjeev Bolia, the Founder Director of the organizer AFAIRS Exhibitions & Media Pvt.Ltd.

The Opening Ceremony was addressed by H.E. Latha Reddy who gave an honorary speech and thanked the Founder of Afairs, organizers and even the exhibitors for an attempt of the hard work.

H.E. mentioned about the Modern Day ; the schools and insitutes making progress in science and technology and having Mathematics, Physics , Chemistry stream doing well and recognized widely. The Indian universities are doing well. The centres extending coprporations and friendship. A lot of overseas  students find India a good source for education and more than 6000 Thai students are studying in India, studying different fields and schemes. Now, the Thai students will be given long term visa till their duration course. For example a Thai who is enrolled for a 3 year course would directly get a 3 year visa. Earlier, they had to renew the visa annually.

H.E. concluded by wishing the best to the exhibitors.

"In 2008, the response to the fair was very encouraging. A lot of Thai students enrolled themselves at various participating Indian schools and universities at the fair. The excellent response from the visitors made us very certain to make it an annual event," Mr. Sanjeev Bolia, Founder Director of AFAIRS Exhibitions & Media Pvt. Ltd. said, adding that the Fair is also expected to attract not only local students but also non-resident Indians, those of Indian origin and Indian expatriates who look for higher education overseas.

Highly reputable Indian academic institutions—including Mayo College, Woodstock School, Mussoorie International School, Punjab Technical University, Mumbai University, and Bangalore University—are showcasing their focus on quality education at affordable rates from primary to higher educational levels. The Fair is also highlighted by seminars with renowned resource speakers and career advisors who will expound on various aspects of Indian educational system.

Included in this seminar is the presentation of Ms. Pervin Malhotra, India's leading Career counselor and a widely-read career columnist who will discuss various aspects about the higher education in India. Associate Professors from the Indian Studies Department of Thailand's universities such as Thammasat and Silpakorn Universities are also having their talks today.

After its tour across India, Nepal, Bhutan and Thailand, The Great India Education Fair will also take place at Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Seoul and some cities in Africa in the coming months.

The Great Indian Education Fair is well supported by Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and India-Thai Chamber of Commerce.

"We would like to sincerely thank both TCEB and India-Thai Chamber of Commerce for their strong support in every way to help assure the success of this event. We are committed to make this an annual event in Bangkok every year in the month of January or February," Mr. Bolia concluded.
