Global Indian International School, Bangkok celebrates its first Annual Sports Day |

April 08, 2008 by News Desk  The Global Indian International School, Bangkok celebrated its first Annual Sports Day on March 1st 2008. The occasion was attended by many eminent personalities of the Indian community in Thailand including, Dr Rani Phlaphongphanich, President of Indian Woman’s Club, Mr. D. K. Bakshi, Vice President Human Resources of Indo-Rama, Mr. S. S. Phool CEO of Chazz Insurance, Bangkok. The sports meet was declared open by the Chairman Mr. Atul Temurnikar whose presence boosted the morale of the staff and students. The school showcased various sports activities in track and field events. The day’s schedule was arranged in a balanced manner to give equal opportunity for exhibiting the sporting skills of our students. This was accompanied by musical presentations in between the events to enhance the atmosphere.
 A presentation by the K 1 and K 2 students dancing on the tunes of “ follow the leader” stole everyone’s heart. Class 1 and 2 had a dance presentation in colorful dresses swinging to the beats of “Saturday Night” and “Brazil”. Their enthusiasm was contagious and left everyone asking for more. The’ Umbrella Dance’ was performed by Classes 3 and 4. It was very well choreographed. Parents loved this presentation. The ‘Sari Drill’ was performed by the students of class 5 to 8. This included displaying various formations such as the wheel, mat, lotus, butterfly and tent. However, the greatest applause was reserved for the peacock. The senior students of the school performed Tai Chi, an act of discipline to show their improved concentration and a fine- tuning of their motor skills. It was an exciting four-hour function.  The annual school report was read by the Director of Academics Ms Rachna Pant. A very interesting part of the function was the Staff race and the tug of war between the teachers and the parents. In true sportsman sprit the Chairman mooted the idea of a tug of war between the parents. Joy was written large on the faces of the children to see all the guests of honor including the Chairman and the Vice Chairman participating in this. Finally the long awaited prize distribution took place. The prizes were given away by Mr Atul Temurnikar.(Chairman), Khun Chanatt (Vice Chairman), Mrs Rani, Mr Bakshi, Mr Phool and Ms Pant. The Orchid house gained the first place followed by the Chrysanthemum house. The meet was declared closed by the Chairman followed by the Thai and the Indian National Anthems.
