Zillow releases its list of ‘Top places for single moms’
May 6th, 2011 - 11:17 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew York, May 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Zillow has released its list of best places for single mothers. Being a single mother presents numerous challenges but Zillow says some places present better opportunities for single mothers than other places.
The list was released to mark this year’s Mothers’ Day ceremony. The list which was titled “10 Best Places for Single Moms to Live” was compiled using factors like crimes rate, public school availability and female earnings in relation to earnings by men among others.
The study was limited to the United States. The list has Rochester, NY as the best place for single mothers to live. Zillow reports that the city has affordable homes and there is accessible public school where the parents can take their children. Another advantage that the city presents to single mothers is jobs which is boosted the location of some government institutions like Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester Institute of Technology and The University of Rochester.
Next on the list is Port St. Lucie, FL. The compilers of the list said the city presents women the opportunity to earn the same income with their male counterparts. Bakersfield, CA completed the top three list. Investments into the city’s education is seen as advantage to single mothers.
