Yale student Annie Le In a horrific crime on the prestigious Yale University, graduate student Annie Le was strangled and then murdered. Her body was found in the basement wall of an off-campus medical research building. A spokesman for the Connecticut medical examiner’s office said that the cause of death was due to ‘traumatic asphyxia due to neck compression.’

A prospective bride-to-be, Annie Le was last seen alive on Sept 8th in a surveillance video entering a laboratory on Amistad St., which is situated about 10 blocks from the main campus. Her body was found in the off-campus medical research building on her wedding day-Sunday.

As per the New Haven police reports, a lab technician Raymond Clark III, 24 years of age, was arrested in the early morning hours on Thursday. He was arrested on suspicion because he had scratch marks all over his body, coupled with the fact that he failed the lie-detector test. Both he and the victim Annie Le worked in the same building and Raymond Clark III worked in the basement of the building where Annie Le’s body was found.

The New Haven police smelled a rat, interviewed him, had him on surveillance, took his DNA samples and then they arrested him from the Super 8 motel in Cromwell. His bail has been set at a high figure of $3 million. The motive behind the murder is still unknown.

This incident does raise a lot of questions about the safety standards of Yale University. But the University President of Yale, Richard C chooses to downplay it with his statement that states, “This incident could have happened in any city, in any university, or in any workplace,” He also said. “It says more about the dark side of the human soul than it does about the extent of security measures.”
