World’s tallest statue of Jesus unveiled in Swiebodzin

Warsaw, Nov 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Finally the world’s tallest statue of Jesus Christ has been unveiled in the Polish town of Swiebodzin. The unveiling of the massive structure which is 36 meters long was witnessed by some 15,000 people from all over the world.

The ceremony was held on Sunday. The event was carried on several polish television stations. Some of the pilgrims that thronged to the location of the statue carried the banner with the inscription “Christ the King of the Universe”.

The statue minus the gold crown is 33 meters high and it represents the number of years Jesus spent on earth. Jesus was 33 years when He was crucified. The 3 meter golden crown is also said to represent the number of years that Christ ministered on the planet. At that height, the statue is 3 meters higher than the famous “Christ the Redeemer” statue in Rio de Janeiro.

The statue is christened “Christ the King”. The statue is set to attract tourists all over the world. There were reports that during the unveiling of the statue on Sunday, some tourists stood at the German side of the border to take pictures of the massive monument. The structure is visible from there.
