World’s Smallest Engraving on Edge of Razor Blade

Feb 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) It says, “Nothing is Impossible.” The etching carved by Graham Short seems to prove what it says, since it is carved on the edge of a razor blade, and is only a tenth of a millimeter in size, so tiny they cannot even be seen with the naked eye. It takes a medical microscope set at four hundred times magnification to see the words…”Nothing is Impossible.”
The sixty four year old engraver took one hundred and fifty tries before he finally completed the piece. The job had to be done at night, when traffic vibrations were minimal, and had his right arm tied to the chair arm in order to lessen his movement. Using a stethoscope to measure his heart beat, Mr Short only attempted each stroke between the beats of his heart, because it is at that time that the human body is perfectly still.
It took him seven months, working from midnight until 5:30 am, managing to carve from one to three letters a night when he worked. The razor blade is available for purchase at the price of £47,500.
