he-pingping-001 Rome, Mar 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) He Pingping who was the world’s shortest man has died. He was just 21 years old. He got the title of the world’s shortest man, as he was just 2-foot-5-inches tall. He died in Rome, where he had gone for a TV show. He suddenly complained of chest pains, while he was in Rome. He was subsequently admitted to the hospital a fortnight ago, and then he died on Saturday. The Guinness Book of World Records’ officials said that he died from ‘heart complications’.

“From the moment I laid eyes on him, I knew he was someone special,” said Guinness World Records editor-in-chief Craig Glenday. The Guinness team had to travel to Wulanchabu, which is a city in northern China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, to measure Pingping. Craig Glenday was also a part of this team, and after verifying his height, he was named as the world’s shortest man. He was 29.37 inches tall, and after he was officially recognized as the world’s shortest man, he became an international celebrity.

“I am very sorry he is gone,” said Sultan Kösen, who is the Guinness record holder for being the world’s tallest man. “I am just glad we had the opportunity to know each other and become friends.”
