World’s oldest dog Pusuke dies at the age of 26 years

Tokyo, Dec 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The world’s oldest dog Pusuke has died at the age of 26. The fluffy, tan Shiba mix recently got sick and the owners say the animal stopped eating after that. The canine was recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Dogs have an average of 13 years but the oldest dog in history lived to be 29 years. That feat was achieved by an Australian cattle dog called Bluey. According records in the Guinness Book, Bluey died in 1939.

Pusuke showed the will to fight when it survived a scary auto accident in 2008. The vets expressed their fear that the animal might not make it but against that odd, Pusuke survived and lived on to be recognized as the world’s oldest dog last year.

Owner, 42-year-old Yumiko Shinohara told reporters that, “I was with Pusuke for 26 years and I felt as if he was my child. I thank him for living so long with me.”

She explained to reporters that for the first time in the life of Pusuke, the animal failed to take breakfast. The animal’s illness got worse and he died around 1:30 p.m. Shinohara and her family were gathered around when the dog died peacefully.
