Woman rescued from a Leverett cave after spending 12 hours

Leverett, July 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A 25 year old woman spent half a day in a cave before being rescued by firefighters. The lady was rescued at 1 am on Tuesday morning.

Firefighters say the woman was conscious during the whole time that she spent in the cave.

According to authorities, the woman who is an experienced caver got trapped in the 18 to 20 inches hole when she entered the cave to explore it on Monday afternoon around 1pm. The cave is located at the Rattlesnake Gutter Conservation area at Leverett, Mass.

After exploring the cave, the woman got stuck there as she had gotten trapped there and she also fell. Rescuers were called to the scene of the incident and they spent more than 8 hours before they finally got the woman out of the cave. Rescuers gave the woman food and water during the procedure to get her out of the cave.

When she was finally rescued from the cave, rescuers say the woman was in high spirits and she did not suffer any serious injuries. “The lady is out of the hole so at about 1:10 a.m. we cleared her out of both of the choke holes,” according to Terry Dun who belonged to the Incident Management Assistant Team, which was called for the rescue effort.

Officials did not immediately reveal the identity of the woman.
