Nov. 12, (THIANDIAN NEWS) A woman who was mauled by a rogue chimpanzee has revealed for the first time the pictures of her trauma. Charla Nash, who had been attacked by the chimpanzee named Travis as she was attempting to lure it back to it’s owner, featured in the “Oprah Winfrey Show” and displayed in public the sobering pictures of her condition after she was attacked. The pictures are grisly and enough to make one’s skin crawl, and after taking a look at them, it is not difficult to imagine the pain she must have gone through after suffering the assault.
Travis was a 200 pound chimpanzee owned by Sandra Herold, a friend of Charla, living in Stamford in Connecticut. He had attacked Charla as she attempted to drive him back into the house of his owner, and the injuries were severe. Charla had lost both her arms and a major part of her face in the attack. The chimpanzee had ripped off her nose, eyelids and her lips, and also broken most of the bones in her body in the process. He had ripped off a thumb, and Ms. Nash now survives on fluids only that she is fed through a straw that enters her mouth through a specially designed hole. A part of her scalp had also been lost during the terrible attack.
On the “Oprah Winfrey Show”, Ms Nash lifted the veil that she generally wears in public to reveal the extent of damage that the incident had caused her. Her spirit shines through her attitude. Although scarred for life, she insists that she is healthy and refuses to remember what she had gone through. However, she said that such dangerous animals like Travis should not be allowed inside homes.

This is so very sad! What a wonderful outlook Charla has! I pray for her speedy recovery and that she and her daughter can move on with their lives. Please give to the Charla Nash Trust Fund if at all possible.
