Woman Left Sleeping on a Plane Sues Trans State Airline
May 28th, 2010 - 9:15 pm ICT by Angela Kaye MasonMay 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) After a woman in Michigan fell asleep on board a Trans State Airliner in route to Philadelphia, and awoke to find herself trapped inside the cabin of the plane more then three hours after it had landed, is suing the airline, citing “false imprisonment”.
Ginger McGuire, who is 36 years old, boarded the Trans States plane on Monday night at the Dulles International Airport, which is located just outside Washington. Sometime during her one hour flight to Philly, Ginger fell asleep, and the plane landed at around 12:30 am at the Philadelphia International Airport. Ginger claims that the flight crew did not even try to wake her, but just left her sleeping in the plane’s cabin. Ginger claims she then awoke at 4 am, alone on board the plane, unable to get out, due to all of the doors being locked. She told WDIV-TV in Detroit, “Waking up to an empty airplane and not being able to get out was very horrifying.”
Ginger claims that she walked the isle of the plane for fifteen minutes, and that although she had her cell phone, and even used it to check the time, she did not think to call for help. The door finally opened, and Ginger says she was greeted by two Philly police officers and a Transportation Security Administration Officer who questioned her for about ten minutes.
Geoffrey Fieger, Ginger’s attorney held a press conference with her on Thursday back in Michigan to announce her intention to sue Trans State Airlines on charges of false imprisonment, negligence, emotional distress, and breach of contract.
