Woman leaps from burning building in the London riots London, Aug 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A woman in London escaped death when she jumped from her window on the first floor of an apartment. The woman has not yet been identified but witnesses say she was caught safely on the ground.

London has been engulfed in deadly riots. The country’s Prime Minister David Cameron has called back the British Parliament for an emergency session. The Parliamentarians were on a holiday break.

The flame that engulfed the woman’s apartment is suspected to have been started at Reeves furniture store in Croydon. The fire then spread from there and engulfed other properties nearby razing some of them to the ground. Several homes around the store have now been evacuated.

The woman was trapped after she realized that the whole apartment was on fire. Witnesses say the woman was left with very little option because of the nature of the fire. Fortunately, the woman was caught before she could hit the ground. She immediately fled from the scene and it is not immediately known who she is.

The owner of Reeves furniture store Trevor Reeves was distraught. The 67-year-old told reporters that, “Five generations of work gone. My father is distraught. It’s just mindless thuggery.”
