When one sees the familiar decorated vehicle of the Wienermoblie in the locality, it mostly indicates the ushering of fun and excitement. However, the residents of Mount Pleasant Wisconsin will now have second thoughts about the whole thing. On Friday, July 17, 2009, a speeding Weinermobile crashed in to a house in the area, causing a lot of damage to the property.
Reports by the local dailies like the Racine Journal Times suggest that the accident caused severe damage to the foundations of the house that belongs to one Nick Krupp. Fortunately, no one was at the house at the time that the Oscar Mayer vehicle came house ‘crashing’!
Neighbors, who had witnessed the accident accounted it later and told that the two female Oscar Mayer employees had taken a turn that led them on a street with dead end. The 22 year old employee at the wheel, in her confusion, tried to turn around by pulling in to a driveway; but in the hurried effort forgot to shift the gears to the reverse and put on forward. The result was that the 23 foot long Wienermobile lurched forward and crashed in to the building, pushing the garage door inwards and dislodging the deck that hangs over the driveway. The vehicle has suffered immense damage too. No reports of injuries have been made till now.
This Weinermobile accident comes almost 17 months after the reports of the last crash had made news. Earlier this month, on July 6, the founder of the chain, Oscar G. Mayer had passed away at the age of 95.
