coupleAug 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Radio show host George Willborn has filed a complaint under the federal housing discrimination action after a house owned by a white family was not sold to them allegedly due to their skin color. George and Peytyn Willborn found the perfect house in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago which he wanted to buy at any cost and also offered the highest price. The complaint that has been filed alleges that although the white couple agreed to sell the house of $1.7 million, they never signed the deal with the black family.

After the case was brought under the notice of the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development, the white couple, Daniel and Adrienne Sabbia have been charged with the violation of the Fair Housing Act for their refusal to sell the house to the black family. Apart from the Sabbia couple, the charges have also been levied against the concerned real estate agent as well as the real estate broker with respect to the case. After the complaint was filed by the radio show host, an investigation was carried out to validate the authenticity of the claims made by George Willborn.

Despite the fact that the white couple emphasized that they refused to sell the house as they had changed their minds, the explanation did not hold much ground when estate agent Jeffrey Lowe revealed that the Sabbia couple had shown their preference of not selling the house to African-Americans. The case would now be considered by an administrative judge but chances are high that the matter would go under a higher jurisdiction of the U.S. District Court.
