West Indian-American Day Parade All Set To Enthrall Brooklyn Residents

westNew York, Sep 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It is that time of the year again when the neighborhood of Crown Heights in Brooklyn in New York wears a festive look as it transforms itself into the venue of the one of the most anticipated carnivals across the nation. The stage is set for the this year’s West Indian American Day Carnival Parade which is held every year on the American Labor Day.

The months long hard work of the volunteers is going to culminate today in the mega carnival which is expected to witness the turnout of tens of thousands of enthusiastic participants in dazzling costumes. The anticipation among the residents of the city regarding the West Indian American Day Carnival Parade is immensely high as the gala event is considered to be one of the biggest celebrations of the Caribbean culture across the country. Every year the participants attend the event with elaborate rainbow-colored costumes as they throng the street of Brooklyn with live performances to adding on to the festive feel. One of the major highlights of the carnival turns out to be wide variety of food from different Caribbean islands which are available on the parade routes throughout the day.

The Labor Day Carnival which reaches its 43rd year this time has already turned out to be a huge success after it commenced on Thursday with a concert that was held to raise funds for the survivors of the earthquake-ravaged nation of Haiti. However, it is the West Indian American Day Carnival Parade which takes place on the Labor Day that is the highlight of the five day long celebrations.
