By Ranjan Bhaduri,

clipboard016Dec.15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Monday night saw the release of ‘One Minute To Nine’ which is a documentary of Wendy Maldonado’s despicable married life. The documentary aired on HBO on Dec 14th, raising the eyes and curiosity of the general public. ‘One Minute To Nine’ which was renamed ‘Every Fu**ing Day of My Life’ by HBO spans the last five days of Wendy Maldonado’s life before she was sent to jail for 10 years, for murdering her husband.

Wendy Maldonado, along with her son had suffered domestic abuse for years at the hands of her husband, Aaron Maldonado, before they both killed him with the help of a hammer in the year 2005. After the murder, Wendy Maldonado placed a call to 911 reporting her crime. Wendy Maldonado was given 10 years, but her son, 16, was sentenced only for 75 months, after they both consented to accept plea bargains. Wendy Maldonado’s husband Aaron had a hobby of filming their daily lives, the clips of which have been included in the documentary too. However, these clips are as brutal as Aaron, a fact confirmed when Aaron injured his child but forces him to keep on performing in front of the camera.

The judge, during the hearing had said that even though the accounts of Wendy Maldonado’s married life was truly horrific, he couldn’t let them go without punishment since the law don’t work that way. Wendy Maldonado had been married at the tender age of 16, after which she went on to witness 18 years of abuse and neglect. In the documentary, Wendy is shown going on about her life in jail, waiting for her release date to come close.

I’m watching the documentary right now on HBO. It’s horrible that she had to serve any time in prison. She spent 18 years in prison with this monster and so did her children. Isn’t that enough? The judge should be disbarred.

  2. Amber Says:

I agree with Anonymous. I watched last night and that woman and those poor boys served their time beforehand. I think this is just another example of the skewed justice system in America.

“In the documentary, Wendy is shown going on about her life in jail, waiting for her release date to come close.”

No. The documentary shows her final days of freedom on the outside before she has to go to jail.

  4. Michael S. Ward Says:

It’s just another way that the system hides behind the old saying that it’s not his decision which is not correct. The Judge holds a huge sway of direction on a matter, then the Governor could interfer, but it’s like I was told recently; the courts is not about Morals, it’s about the Law. That says alot, it’s sad. Honestly I feel she excepted the deal so she could feel safe behind bars regardless that he was dead. That’s how bad the abuse was in her life. Why does it take people in authority so long to recognize the truth. People are so blind, they base there life on there opinion’s, and everybody knows that’s wrong. Good Luck; Wendy,

i think the crazzy ass got exactly what he had coming to him. those poor kids are betteroff w/o a “father” then to have the one they had. she should’ve left or killed his ass way befor he started beating on the kids! Free Randy and Wendy.

  6. Trisha “Gustafson” Parker Says:

I grew up with these two when they were just going out together,I think I was even there when they met because I was going out with Aaron’s oldest brother. She was a sweetheart, always smiling and fun, happy and laughing. After getting married I went to their house and visited and didn’t see anything out of the ordinary, and I would think I would have noticed, he hid it too well….. I am praying for you Wendy and Randy, you have already paid your price, you should not have to keep paying.

  7. Gabriel Says:

Wendy should be applauded. The law definitely protects the criminals…we live in a sad time my friends.

  8. Maureen Says:

I watched the documentary last night - and it is haunting. It is a sin that Wendy and Randy are in prison.
What kind of man beats his wife and kids? He would have never stopped Take comfort in knowing you did the only thing you could do - you had no choice. I am praying for you.

  9. Tammy Says:

Can someone tell me where I can see the movie, “A Minute before Nine”? Did you see his brother get up there in the court and make a complete fool of himself. He probably beats the crap out of his wife. I know it would have been a gamble, but I wonder if they had pleaded not guilty and took their chances at trial if they could have been set free altogether?

  10. Trisha Says:

I see in the comments above that there are some people who have seen this documentary in Feb.??? I have been asking for a month on different sites where to buy or how to find this documentary and can’t get a single answer. Again, does anyone know how or where to find it?

  11. Alysa Says:

I just saw this documentary on HBO… my heart truly weaps for this family. Wendy is a survivor by every definition of the word. That animal that she was married to made it very clear that he would kill her whenever he felt the urge to do so. It’s a crime that she is in jail for protecting her boys. If you think the justice system is there to protect you, watch this show and it WILL change your mind.

  12. cousin Says:

wow, i dont even know where to begin, aaron was my cousin his father, my uncle was very abusive and really gave it to his kids. It is so sad to see everything be one sided, no family member was contacted or interviewed for this doc, and although aaron may not have been perfect, but to bash someone head in with a hammer also seems severe. i wonder why wendy never left, her sons may have stuck up for there mother because they are traumatized from losing their father, and are scared to lose their mother as well. as everything in life there are two sides to every story, only aaron will not be able to tell his now

  13. Angie Says:

I agree that Aaron may have learned these behaviors at one point by his own father, but the fact of the matter was, he was keeping his family in constant torture. This was the best way that Wendy found to protect herself and her family!!! I pray to God that her sons were able to learn from the harm that their father caused, and can get all the help they need to ensure they do not repeat the cycle.

  14. Nikki Says:

I recently watched Wendy’s documentary and I could not even fathom the horror she and her beautiful (and such well-adjusted and mature) boys had to live through. I agree 100% that she already did her time and then some and should not have to spend another day behind bars, and neither should Randy. WOW. I am amazed at her resilence and strength of spirit and I will be praying for the whole family. I am impressed with them all for surviving such a horrific life.

  15. Trisha Says:

Again, I have asked for more than 3 months now where to find this Doc and no answers, now i find out it was on HBO in Feb. Really, does anyone out there know how to find it or when it will be on again. I want to see it for myself, I knew both these people so well.
    ANYONE?????

  16. tuli[p Says:

Trisha this just showed today on hbo signature @ 2pm. it will show again on 4/5 @ 10am east coast and that same day @ 1:30pm west coast.

i really think that they don’t belong in prison, they were protecting themselves.. god be with their family…
p.s. i donot condone killing, but this is what happens when enough abuse is enough..

  17. Daliah Says:

It’s so sad that she felt safer taking the plea bargain, feeling that would be a shorter time for her son in prison than going to trial where she could possibly be found innocent by reasonable manslaughter and serve no time. She didn’t feel confident in the system protecting her and her family and this seemed like a safer/shorter bet. so sad.

  18. Trisha Says:

Tuli, darnit, it is not on HBO west coast @1:30. I satyed home today just to watch it too. Anyone know when it may be on again, I would sure like to see it.

  19. shirley Says:

I think the son should have gotten probation until he was 21 and community service and the jail sentencing is alright but should be less. The mother should service less time. How should a mother live through that pain and the judge not see it…? her teeth are missing..and the boy described his story…very believable…I believe the story all the way…but how could the male judge see that pain and abuse…? and sentence her so long!?!?!

But probation and community service until 21 would be a proper sentence for the young fellow..so that he can continue education….maybe some jail time..but the son will learn his lesson….and not kill again…if i was the judge..i do that..i put the women just on probation and community service..because i understand and know what that pain feels like it..i lived through seeing my parents through that.

    ANYONE?????

I searched for you, but cannot find it. It is an HBO documentary. Ask HBO when they plan to air it again. They run it as, “Every F—ing Day” and also as “One Minute to Nine”.
    It is produced by Quinto Malo Films. Executive producer, Sheila Nevins; producer, Jaime Davila;

Here is link to a “YouTube” trailer clip for it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlqELHHKCl8

    I hope this helps.

  21. mikele Says:

I just saw the doc and it was haunting. That entire family is going to suffer from PTSD for the rest of their lives.
    HBO changed the title to
“Every Fu%@?*% Day of My Life”
When Wendy called 911 to report the murder the 911 operater asked if he had hurt her and that was her answer. I think the new title is much more powerful.

The laws for domestic violence neeed to be changed, women and children are not property which they were considered when most laws were created.

  22. Janet Says:

OMGosh Wendy Im so sorry you all had to go thru that.I know the Docu. was made years ago but have the laws changed any? I pray that youe and your childrens ordeal & survival will impact and impeed the laws on these matters. If you have access to my email write if you want.

  23. Janet Says:

ps forgive me Im typing chalenged ;) lol

  24. Deborah Says:

It’s been four or five years since Wendy was sentenced to prison. Does anyone know how she, Randy or her three younger sons are doing?

  25. terri Says:

I’ve seen on other sites where people say that there’s no excuse for murder and that they should have gone to the authorities instead. That’s such garbage. The newspapers are full of dead women that went to the authorities. Unless you’ve been abused and felt fear and helplessness like ice in your veins when they threaten your family or your children…. Who knows what you’d do after 20 years of that cra*.

  26. Roger Joyal Says:

I agree that this was horrible and our laws do not address these situations very well, but as soon as you change the law to protect the innocent every loon out there would be cracking spouses over the head with a hammer.
I thought the most gripping part was in Wendy’s statement to the court in the end. That her children were in prison and part of this disfunction for years and now that they are free to grow up as good men, the system takes their mother away. The Boys lose twice - that’s wrong!!!

  27. bbking Says:

they should have decapitated him!!!! in india…they kill women with impunity. his brother she be next!!!!!!! sickass biatches!!!! never hit a man.

  28. bbking Says:

    should be next

  29. AARONS FRIEND Says:

Once again ignorant people are blinded by Hollywood and NOT FACTS. That so called documentary is a one sided twist of truth. WAKE UP PEOPLE AND THINK FOR YOURSELF!!!

  30. pinkhello12 Says:

Well Aarons, friend, what is the other side, please inform me?!? I’m not sure a whole of things can justify what their family went through

  31. Lily Says:

Just saw the doc yesterday. There is no excuse for Aarons insanity and actions. Wow @ Aarons friend…. Nice name btw… Hammer to the head Is severe? Home boy was dancing with a dead deer hanging from a tree! Knocked out most of Wendys teeth. I mean really you have to gave some loose screws up there Aarons friend to think that is all Hollywood.

  32. Sarah99999 Says:

If the judge were “just” he would have declared Wendy a HERO!
By killing her psychopathic husband she saved herself, her children, her family members and and god knows how many others from years of horrific abuse, intimidation, insanity, and probable countless number of killings (as he expressed in his fantasies). She is a HERO!

  33. nikki Says:

randy’s a cute boy.. he deserves someone special in his life when he gets out..someone who could take care of him well..i wish him and his mother all the best for life.

  34. donna Says:

I saw this documentary a couple of years ago and I watched it again recently. It is extremely disturbing. Aaron was obviously not wrapped tight. I cannot even begin to fathom what Wendy & her kids went through.

  35. Tallulah Says:

I’m not sure that the judge had the option to give Wendy and Randy a lesser sentence when they had already taken a plea agreement, it sounded like he was very sympathetic towards Aaron’s victims. It was the DA who should have thrown the case out.

Aaron’s brother did a great job of showing the judge (and the viewers) the kind of threats and intimidation that Wendy and her family had to endure. Way to go psycho. No doubt the brother beats his family too.

Wendy and Randy did the world a favor. Even if they had been able to escape Aaron without killing him, he would’ve found new victims. Monsters like Aaron always do.
