Wedding date for Royal Monaco wedding set for next year

Monaco, 23 date (THAINDIAN NEWS) Royal wedding bells will be ringing soon in Monaco. The royal palace in Monaco has confirmed that Prince Albert II will be marrying his girlfriend in a year’s time.

The prince is set to tie the knot with former South African Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock and their wedding will consist of both civil and religious ceremonies. And they would take place on July 9 2011 and July 10 next year respectively. Other detailed events associated with the wedding such as guests who will be invited, costumes, etc. have not been confirmed yet. “This is a marriage of considerable importance,” according to Stephane Bern, who is the organiser of Monaco’s annual high-society ball and is also an acclaimed expert on princely affairs.

The wedding will become the headline event of the decade and the countdown started on Thursday. The 52 year old prince has no heir and his love life has been the source of speculation for numerous years. He will now marry the South African Olympic champion who is 20 years younger to him.

The couple met ten years ago when Wittstock won the gold at the 2000 in the 200-meter Monaco Olympics event in which the Prince was the host.

It’s not known when the couple started dating but they were first seen in public at the 2006 Turin winter Olympics.
