SEATTLE (BNO NEWS) – A Washington man was sentenced Friday for possessing a stolen firearm, prosecutors said.

Steven Williams, 30, of Auburn, Washington made a deal to sell a firearm during June and July 2009, but it was being monitored by law enforcement as it was determined that the gun had been stolen from a residence in Federal Way, Washington.

Williams is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition because of prior felony convictions for drug distribution offenses and attempted robbery, but when his residence was further searched, a Ruger, 357 caliber magnum revolver and a variety of ammunition was recovered.

Williams was sentenced to eight years in prison and three years of supervised release for possession of a stolen firearm after being arrested in September 2009.
