Wanda Sykesn, the show-stealer at the President’s dinner
May 10th, 2009 - 7:51 pm ICT by GD ( Leave a comment )The star attraction at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner was Wanda Sykesn. Wanda is an actress and comedian of repute. Her forte is definitely stand-up comedy shows and her famous one-liners. From the start of her career as an officer at the National Security Agency, she was famous for her instant wit and satiric comments. At this dinner hosted by the first couple in America, she was at her very best, taking jibes at all most all the distinguished guests, including the President. Perhaps the best lines of the evening was uttered by her when she claimed that though there is need to be more transparency in the way the government is run, people do not really want to see the President’s nipples exposed by the paparazzi. As an after thought she added that “there was never a nipple portrait of Lincoln!” which had the audience in splits.
Wanda Sykesn aimed her fiercest jokes at Sarah Palin. “Somebody should tell her that’s not really how you practice abstinence,” was the line that Sykes had reserved for Palin. The night also saw the President in great moods, perhaps catching it from the irresistible Wanda Sykesn. He made jokes on all his colleagues, including himself. Describing the success of his first 100 days in office, Obama exclaimed that “My next 100 days will be so successful I will complete them in 72 days. And on the 73rd day, I will rest.”
However, it cannot be denied that Wanda was the star appeal of the evening. From the beginning of her career at a Coors Light Super Talent Showcase in Washington, D.C., she was a show-stealer. She has done plenty of memorable work on the big screen and the television. She is also a notable writer. Her humor and criticism is piercing and accurate but never dark and embarrassing for the subject.
