Walter E. Ellis: Suspect Serial Killer Arrested

serial-killerAccording to reports, the Milwaukee Police Department has said on Monday that the investigators have been able to match a DNA sampling that had been found on each of the nine women who had been slayed over a period of 21 years between 1986 to 2007, with Walter E. Ellis.

On Friday, the police had obtained a warrant in order to obtain the DNA sample from Ellis’ home. Once the samples had matched, immediate arrest was made. Ellis was placed under arrest on Saturday, in the suburban region of Milwaukee called Franklin.

In a news release held after the arrest was made, Police Chief Edward A. Flynn is reported to have said that, “This case was solved with shoe leather and science.” Highlighting further he said, “Continuing advances in DNA technology have enabled us to link these homicide cases, and it was good work pursuing numerous leads that led to the arrest of the suspect.”

The 49 year old Ellis, a Milwaukee resident has been indicted with the charges of only two counts of “first degree intentional homicide” till now. According to the police and the prosecutors, more charges are going to be slapped later in this week. Ellis did not give in completely without a fight. In fact, the police had to overpower him in a struggle that had ensued in a motel, after which he was placed under police custody.

According to the police, eight of the victims of the serial killer were prostitutes and one was a 16 year old runaway, who was supposed to have been involved in the drug trade.
