Wall Excavated Jerusalem, Feb 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Hebrew University of Jerusalem has reported that it has been able to excavate a wall which dates back to the era of King Solomon. The wall is 70 meters long and is six meters high, according to reports. Archaeologist Eilat Mazar, who undertook this major project has reportedly claimed with certainty that this excavated wall dates back to the 10th century BC and belongs to the age of King Solomon.

If this is proved true then the claims made in the Old Testament about King Solomon and his kingdom will have a strong background. On Monday the Israel’s University has declared that after a rigorous excavation carried out for three months it has been able to unearth a section of the wall which belongs to the construction projects carried out by King Solomon. A part of the wall has been discovered in between the City of David and that of a wall which surrounds the Temple Mount, in the Ophel area, according to reports.

Along with the wall many other things have come out of the site. A gatehouse and a tower which overlooks the Kidron valley at the foot of Mount Olives have also been discovered. Pottery and earthen ware has also been found. The earthenwares measure 1.15 meters tall. Interestingly, according to reports, a jar handle bears an inscription which reads “For the King”. If the claims are proved true then it would become part of one of the greatest historical discoveries. The discovery will support the written document that the 10th Century BC king undertook the endeavor to construct the structure in Israel. According to written documents King Solomon constructed many temples in Israel which were later destroyed by the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar in 586 BC.
