Michigan, March 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) 29-year-old Joseph Casias was fired by Wal-Mart employers last year when he tested positive in a drug test for the use of marijuana. The Michigan resident who suffers from a brain tumor which cannot be operated along with a sinus cancer was using the medical marijuana to relieve himself from the excruciating pain that the ailments gave. However, Wal-Mart has said that it would not employ the suspended worker again in the company.
Joseph Casias has been using the drug under the medical prescription made by a doctor from June 2009. He also has the state permission card to use the drug for medical purposes. In Michigan the use of medical marijuana was made legal back in the year 2008. However, the employers of the Wolverine state company sacks a worker if he or she is found positive in a drug test.
Joseph Casias has reportedly injured his leg during work last November. He had to undergo the necessary tests for the treatment which found that he was using marijuana. However, Joseph Casias gave a detailed report to the authorities of Wal-Mart of his present health and mentioned that the drug was being used under medical supervision. He also showed the authority his state card which legalizes his use of the drug, but the management of Wal-Mart allegedly said that it accepts no such card for the use of the drug. Though the company has rejected the plea of Joseph Casias, the latter is still hopeful that he will receive compensation for the suspension as he has not broken any law. The sacked worker as of now is receiving unemployment compensation.
