New York, Nov.12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Last year, Black Friday turned into a dark event at one of Wal-Mart’s New York branches. A worker at that store was crushed to death by a massive crowd rush. This incident taught the retail giant a bitter lesson and that is why they have stepped up crowd management for this year’s Black Friday sales. On Wednesday the Wal-Mart stores announced that they will remain open all through the day for preventing a mad rush of crowd. The death of the employee made headlines and remains a tarnish on the image of the biggest retailer of the nation.
After the unfortunate incident last year, Wal-Mart was asked to come up with a better plan for crowd management for all its stores in New York to avoid criminal charges by its prosecutors. The retail chain has adopted some measures already. First of all, the stores will remain open till Black Friday from the Thanksgiving Night. It will surely ease the flow of the buyers as they need not wait outside the stores for a very long length of time.
To prevent the maddening rush for popular products, the consumers will be asked to queue up at the product displays in an orderly fashion. The workers will manage the crowd inside the stores as well. The Wal-mart workers will be positioned at the entrance to manage the crowd. Wal-Mart made it clear that it beefed up store safety plans after consulting the leading safety experts from entertainment and sports industry. The newly announced safety measures are not applicable for the Wal-Mart Supercenters as they operate 24x 7 normally.
