Wake County Schools To Remain Closed Owing To Inclement Weather

Dec 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Wake County public schools are going to remain closed today owing to the hostile weather and incessant winter storm and the makeup day has been scheduled on January 3rd 2011. The snow coupled with rainfall brought an unscheduled holidays for the students. The National Weather Service predicted more snowfall. The roads are bound to turn slick thus the drivers will have to drive with added caution. Some schools have said that their classes will begin late on the day. The drivers have been asked by the state Highway Patrol to reduce the vehicle speed to avoid unwanted accidents and skidding. They have been asked to maintain distance between the cars in front and at back for added safety. They have also been asked to be cautious at overturns and bridges.
However, the temperature is going to rise and will not drop below the freezing point said the met office which sounds like the silver lining of a dark cloud. Therefore the commuters who take pain to reach the workplace will find it easier to return home at the evening. To fight the situation the state and local road crews are pouring salt and water mix on the roads. It helps in ice formation on the roads in wintry conditions.
A state Department of Transportation engineer named Jason Holmes said that preparations are being taken to tackle the situation. Besides, the schools will be closed resulting in less traffic in the morning and in the afternoon as well. The DoT crews will again spread salt mix on the roads if the situation turns worse he said.
