Volvo issue a recall for more than 7000 S60 vehicles
June 8th, 2011 - 2:37 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew York, June 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Volvo in collaboration with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have issued a recall for more than 7,000 Volvo S60 vehicles on concerns that the fuel systems have problems. It is believed that the problem could cause the vehicles to stall which might eventually lead to accidents. The core of the problem is that the vehicle’s pump software conflicts with the actual pump installed.
The vehicle has been on the market for a short period of time. The affected vehicles were built between the 18th of November 2010 and the 5th of May 2011. The Swedish automaker explained that the fuel pumps that have been installed in the affected vehicles might not be compatible with the software that have been installed in the board of the vehicles and thereby might cause the vehicle to malfunction at the right conditions.
The company explained that the software might cause the vehicle to send less than the required fuel because of the compatibility problems. Volvo invites all its customers who are in possession of the affected cars to return them from the 17tth of June to the point of purchase for the problem to be rectified.
The recall is being supervised by the NHTSA.
