volkswagen L1A new fashionable car from the Volkswagen group has been showcased in the Frankfurt Auto Show. It is being code named the Bullet Car, pertaining to its bullet like shape. Not only that, it is also being called the ‘one liter car’ as it uses around one liter of fuel for every 100 km that it travels.

The car named L1 by its makers, is one of its kind two-seater car which assures all the safety features. The Frankfurt Auto Show showcased the car in gun-metal silver color. L1 is reportedly amazingly light, it weighs only 380 kg, and has a very sleek design. The carbon fiber and aluminum with which the car is constructed adds to its light weight. The light weight of L1 allows it travel at a maximum speed of 99 miles per hour. The car boasts of a diesel-electric hybrid engine. This new kind of engine gives such a pick-up to the car that only 14.3 seconds the car reaches from 0 to 62 miles per hour. The makers of the car have also kept in mind the global warming issue and hence this car ejects just 39 g/km of carbon dioxide.

The car is equipped with a LED display instead of a rear view mirror. The interior of the car is well designed and is a mini representation of a cockpit of an aircraft.

Presently, the seating arrangement of this two-seater car is one behind the other, but it is likely to be changed in the future, because three years down the line when this car is expected to be available to the common people, this seating arrangement might not actually work.

The L1 has been inspired by Dr. Ferdinand Piech’s (who was the chairman of VW in 2002) 1- liter concept car.
