Virginia Plane Crash: Two Reportedly Dead, Toll Might Rise

dorschA plane crash was said to have occurred in Virginia on the Sunday morning of July 5. Till now, two deaths have been reported, those of a Tampa based couple. The single engine plane was en route to Tapma, Florida, from New Jersey. The crash has occurred in a farm owned by Vifginia Tech in Rockbridge County, near Roanoke, in southwestern Virginia.

According to reports, the private jet was registered to a company said to be owned by Daniel Dorsch. Dorsch is a former CEO of the Tampa based Checkers Drive In Restaurants. He is known to be a registered pilot.

The Dorsch family has said that Daniel Dorsch and his wife Cyndie has passed away in Sunday’s crash. Authorities say that the pilot of the aircraft had reported losing an exterior panel, some while before the plane hit the ground, about 10:30 a.m.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration still has not confirmed the identities of the victims, but they have said that the Pilatus PC-12 had started off from the Teterboro Airport in New Jersey and was going to the Tampa Executive Airport in Florida.

It has been reported by the federal aviation investigators that four passengers had been seen boarding the plane; they are trying to determine the actual number of deaths till now. The medical examiner present in the scene is investigating the wreckage, looking for more victims. It has been reported that the plane has been badly fragmented and disintegrated in to shreds from the violent impact of the crash; the biggest size of its fragments is that of a garbage can. Reports states that the shattered pieces are lying scattered over a spread of 300 yard area. Investigators are looking for microchips from the accident scene, hoping that it will provide some information to fuel the investigation.
