Port Canaveral, Mar 29 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A Virginia man was taken into custody after a bomb threat was reported on the Carnival Cruise Lines ship. The 31 years old Khalil Ibrahim Zarou has been arrested for making false report about the bomb threat. The bomb threat was made aboard the Carnival Cruise Lines ship on Sunday morning. Subsequently the US Coast Guard, FBI and the Brevard County Sheriff’s office reached the Cruise ship and searched the ship. When they didn’t find any bomb abroad the ship, then they declared that the threat was in reality a hoax.

After the bomb threat, the US Coast Guard, FBI and the Brevard County Sheriff’s office didn’t take things lying down, and they detained the ship offshore. After inspecting the ship thoroughly, they declared it safe enough and even cleared it to sail off. The shipping company said that on the cruise ship there were around 3470 passengers and crewmembers, in total.

“A full ship-wide search was conducted. The threat turned out to be a hoax as no bomb was found. An investigation by Carnival security personnel indicates the bomb threat was reported to the ship by a guest who claims another guest made the threat,” according to a statement from Joyce Oliva, Carnival spokeswoman.
