Verizon Wireless connection center to help Floridians connect with Haitian victims

Haiti Earthquake pictures TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA (BNO NEWS) – Florida Attorney General announced Friday that Verizon Wireless connection center to help Floridians contact Haitian earthquake victims.

Attorney General Bill McCollum announced that a Verizon wireless connection center has been set up in South Florida to help Haitian Americans make calls to Haiti during the time of chaos in the country. The connection center was set up after the Attorney general reached out to the president of Verizon’s southeast region and requested the company’s assistance in developing and establishing a method of communication for the Haitian community in South Florida with families that have been affected by the quake.

“In times of disaster, having the ability to contact loved ones is essential,” said Attorney General McCollum. “I commend Verizon for following through with this suggestion so quickly, to the tremendous benefit of Florida’s Haitian Community.”

“Verizon is proud to partner with Attorney General Bill McCollum and thank him for proposing this concept and offering his support on this important project to help members of Florida’s Haitian community connect with family members,” said Michelle Robinson, Verizon’s Southeast president.

The connection center is located at the Verizon Wireless Communications Store at 14744 Biscayne Blvd. in North Miami.

Verizon reported that twenty smartphones and other technology will be available to make free wireless voice calls, text messages, check Facebook and Twitter, and access other internet and news sources.
