Vatican City, July 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Vatican has denied that trying to ordain a female priest in the Roman Catholic Church is not the same as priestly pedophilia.

The Church has come under intense criticism, after it emerged that its priests were abusing the young members who serve in the Church.

But the Church has tried to tell the world that it is trying to deal with the issue. The Church recently introduced new laws that gives power to local bishops to defrock priests who abuse children. Though the move has been lauded by some, others believe that the Church hasn’t done enough to curb the abuse.

However some critics still believe that under the Church law, priest who ordain women are dealt with more severely than those who abuse children in the Church.

Under the Church law, any woman who tries to get ordained is automatically excommunicated from the Church. The priest who also tried to ordain the woman is dealt the same blow.

But the Church maintains that ordination of women and priestly abuse are not the same under the Church law but it also maintains that it will not report its pedophile priests to the police but insists that the Church members should respect and obey civil laws.
