Utah State University Professor David Peak Named 2009 Utah Professor of the Year

Logan, Nov.21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Utah State University professor David Peak has been honored as the 2009 Utah Professor of the Year on November 19 in Washington D.C. The honor was bestowed on the physics professor by The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education in a widely attended ceremony.
David Peak, who joined the physics department of the university in the 1994 was one of the 40 professors across the country who have been given the honor. Stan Albrecht, President of the Utah State University while reacting to Peak’s achievement emphasized that the professor has contributed immensely to create knowledge about undergraduate research. It was also mentioned that over the years Professor Peak’s teaching and leadership skills have influenced thousands of students who have had the opportunity to interact with the genius.
Since Professor Peak has joined the University, he has taken innumerable initiatives to enhance the level of education in his department. Moreover, various steps have been taken to procure funds to improve the physics’s laboratory and to accentuate research opportunities for the students. The award given to the Utah State University professor is also a great honor for the University as the educational institution already boasts of having around nine out of the 15 Carnegie Professors of the Year in Utah.
The Utah Professor of the Year award is given to recognize the professors across United States for their outstanding commitment for teaching and unprecedented influence on undergraduate students, which goes a long way to aide in positively shaping their careers.
