Sep 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The USS Emmons was one of the most important warships during the Second World War and before sinking to the depths of sea on April 6, 1945 it served the country. The warship sank after it got severely damaged by the assaults of 5 Japanese airplanes. In fact the OS Navy sank it so that it could not be accessed by the Japanese navy. The ship went under water with the bodies of the 60 US sailors. The ship has been lying underwater for the last 65 years. However, in recent times the divers found out that the remnants of the famous US warship has been vandalized. This has created massive outrage among the people who were associated with the warship in some way or the other.
A number of the crews of the warship are still alive and they have been shocked to learn about the developments. The crew members of the warship said that those who vandalized the ship did not respect the countrymen who had sacrificed their lives in protecting the freedom of USA decades back. They also described the sunken ship as a place where the souls of the sailors rest in peace.
It is not yet known why the ship was vandalized or who did it for that matter. There is a possibility that the damage could have been done by the locals who dived secretly and took away the metal plates and other parts of the ship without anyone knowing about it. The custody of the ship lies with the US Navy notwithstanding the fact that it had sank decades ago.
