USGS trying to manage all the information of the recent quakes

Chicago, Feb 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The USGS has been faced with numerous earthquakes in the recent times, and it is quite a challenge to keep track of all the information pertaining to all the earthquakes. The officials at the USGS are trying their level best to manage all the information related to the recent quakes. It is quite a surprising fact that in recent times, the information regarding any new earthquake released first on the micro blogging and social networking site Twitter, and then on the USGS site. Even the USGS officials keep track of Twitter to keep abreast of the fact where the earthquakes are happening.

Yesterday there was a morning earthquake in Chicago. Seismologists said that an ‘unusual earthquake’ shook Chicago at around 3:59 am on Wednesday. The magnitude of the earthquake was earlier said to be 4.3, but later the USGS revised it to 3.8 magnitude. The earthquake had struck about 38 miles west-northwest of Chicago, at a depth of 3.1 miles. According to witnesses the tremors of the earthquake were felt up to 6 seconds.

The earthquake quake was said to be felt, as far as Wisconsin and Tennessee. The precise location of the earthquake was around 40 miles NW of Chicago. Illinois had been rocked by a very strong earthquake on 9th of November 1968, which had a magnitude of 5.4
