NEW YORK (BNO NEWS) — Two U.S. soldiers on Wednesday died in two separate incidents that occurred in southern and eastern Afghanistan, officials said.

One of the soldiers died as a result of an improvised explosive device (IED) detonation in southern Afghanistan. The second soldier was killed in a hostile fire attack in the eastern part of the country.

“We share a sense of sadness and loss with the families and friends of these service members and offer our deepest condolences to them in this most difficult time,” said Brig. Gen. Eric Tremblay, a spokesman for the NATO-led ISAF alliance.

The identities of the soldiers will be announced after Thursday.
