U.S. soldier dies in attack on U.S. base in northeastern Iraq
March 14th, 2010 - 7:02 pm ICT by BNO News ( Leave a comment )BAGHDAD (BNO NEWS) — A U.S. soldier was killed and two others were injured after an attack on a U.S. base in northeastern Iraq on Saturday, the U.S. military said on Sunday.
A statement from the U.S. military said the soldier died after an indirect fire attack on their base in Diyala province. The wounded were evacuated to a nearby military medical facility and are in a stable condition.
“Task Force Marne extends our deepest condolences to the family during this time of loss, and are praying for a quick recovery for the wounded Soldiers,” the statement read. It said the incident is under investigation.
The identity of the fallen soldier will be released by the U.S. Department of Defense in the coming days.
