tmMay 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The atmosphere in most of the schools and colleges across United States was almost the same as Arbor day was celebrated with much elan. Students from a number of schools and colleges in the country geared up to celebrate the day in which individuals are encouraged to plant trees as well as take proper care of them.

In order to observe the day, students of the North Ogden Elementary School in the Utah city of North Ogden were seen doing their bit with increasing enthusiasm to plant as many number of trees as possible in the school’s playground. The decision was taken to plant trees in the North Ogden Park, which serves as the school’s playground as the campus of the educational institution had been rather empty since the new school had been inaugurated. City mayor Richard Harris also graced the occasion and encouraged the students to plant more trees as he wanted the young citizens to have an active interest in the Arbor day celebrations.

If the schools across the country did their best to observe the day, the colleges were also not left far behind when celebrating Arbor Day was concerned. One of the colleges which pioneered the celebrations was Jamestown Community College which took the initiative to plant trees during the Arbor Day ceremony which was held in the college campus. The occasion was all the more special for the college as it received the Tree Campus USA plaque during the celebration ceremony on Friday. Tree Campus USA is a recognition that is given to educational institutions for excellence in terms of campus tree management.
