New York, Sept 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Pesident Barack Obama defiled the directive by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg at the 9/11 memorial when he read scriptures from the Bible. Ahead of the tenth anniversary observation of the 9/11 attacks, Bloomberg announced that there would be no religious observation at the event.

Shortly after the observation of silence to commemorate the moment the first plane struck the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, Obama started reading from the Bible. He chose to read the text at Psalm 46 when he gave his speech.

The text has the words “God is our refuge and strength… God is in the midst of her. She shall not be moved.”

Former President George W. Bush chose to read a letter which Abraham Lincoln sent to a woman during the Civil War. The letter also made reference to God. Just like President Obama, former Mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani, read out text from the Bible.

The 11th of September 2001 marked a turning point in the history of the United States and the world at large. 19 terrorists from the Al Qaeda network hijacked 4 commercial airlines and slammed them into several targets. About 3,000 people were killed in the attack which is the worst in the history of the United States.
