According to the sources, the officials believe that the younger son of Osama has been killed by hellfire missiles from a U.S. Predator drone strike earlier this year. The death was first reported by National Public Radio.

As per the sources, National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell has reportedly stated to the National Public Radio that Saad bin Laden reportedly traveled to Pakistan last year after spending several years under house arrest in Iran. As per the reports, Saad, the younger sibling of the bin Laden family, who did not play a great role in the Al Qaeda leadership, was “collateral” damage in the air-strike and was not considered valuable enough to target on his own. Although the rumors believe that Saad has been killed by the U.S. air strike, but still the officials are not cent percent sure about the news as his body is yet to be recovered, thus preventing DNA tests. According to the sources, the chances of Saad being killed is estimated at “80 to 85 percent”.

A U.S. official stated that though Saad belonged to the Laden family, still he was not considered as a successor of his father. “We make a big deal out of him because of his last name,” said the official to the National Public Radio.

The United States has reportedly launched 50 air strikes killing as many as 470 people, including many militants.
