US National Parks to have free admission days
October 18th, 2011 - 8:05 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington, Oct 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In 2012, Americans will be given a total of 17 days free admission into the various parks in the country. Officials say the move is a way to boost the interest of the citizens in natural beauties of the country.
The US Department of Interior has subsequently released the dates of the free admission. In a statement issued by the department, Americans will enjoy free admission to parks on Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend which falls between Jan. 14 and 16; the National Park Week between April 21 and 29; Get Outdoors Day on the 9th of June; the National Public Lands Day which will be marked on the 29th of September and the US Veterans Day Weekend which is between the 10th and the 12th of November.
The National Park Service has urged all Americans to take advantage of the free days and go out on those days.
The US Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar pleaded in a statement that, “Whether or not it’s during one of the 17 fee-free days next year, I encourage everyone to visit a park near them and enjoy the remarkable landscapes and historical and cultural sites that are unique to our great country.”
