9/11New York, Sep 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Muslim community in the USA are celebrating Eid amidst the shadow of a ghastly event that affected the residents like never before a few years back. It seems that the appeal made by President Barack Obama to the countrymen has not boosted the spirit of the Muslim community much. The tension built over the declaration made by the controversial Florida pastor Terry Jones was palpable in several parts of the USA where the Muslims assembled to celebrate their holy occasion. The President however sent his best wishes to the Muslims staying in the USA for Eid-al-Fitr, an occasion which ends the month of Ramadan. The president also reminded the nation to think that the Eid is an occasion to showcase religious tolerance.

The Muslims in Los Angeles celebrated Eid according to their tradition. The Muslim families held a colorful breakfast in downtown Los Angeles which was preceded by a prayer. The Muslims are still miffed about the Quran burn threat and some of the attendees said that by burning the holy book the Florida pastor ca not achieve anything. They also said that Islam did not support events like 9/11 and hence taking the vengeance on Islam will not resolve the issue. The situation is tensed because of the proposed Mosque that is supposed to be built near ground zero.

At the prayer event that was held at Los Angeles a preacher told the attendees that 9/11 was shameful for humanity but that should not dampen the spirit of Eid. Many of the attendees echoed his views and said it would be best to ignore the Floria pastor.
