Port-Au-Prince, Apr 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) US Missionary Laura Silsby who was charged with kidnapping dozens of children, so that they could be taken to the US, would now face a trial in Haiti. It may be recalled that, ten US missionaries who tried to take 33 children out of Haiti, were charged with child kidnapping. They have also been charged with criminal association for illegally trying to take children out of the earthquake stricken Haiti. The investigators said that the US missionaries didn’t have the necessary documentation, and neither the permissions to take the children out of Haiti.

Laura would now be tried on the charges of arranging “irregular travel,” according to her attorney, Louis Ricardo Chachoutte. Laura is going to be tried, as she was the leader of her missionaries group. The other 9 members were released from the prison and were also allowed permission to return to United States.

The orphaned children ranged in ages from 1 year to 5 years, and the police seized them on the airport, when they were about to board a plane for the US. It has also transpired that the four US women had all the legal paperwork in place, but yet the orphans were seized from them at the airport, and then handed over to the US embassy. They also had to face the ire of the angry Haiti citizens, who have accused the group of child trafficking.
