Washington, Mar 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The US government is about to issue a safety warning about the baby slings, as they are quite harmful. There have been some instances when the babies carried in the sling have suffocated, so the US Government wants to unsuspecting public to acknowledge the danger behind such slings, and use them with caution, if at all. It was learnt that there are some safety guidelines in place, which say that it is very dangerous if the baby falls into a curved or ‘C-like’ position inside the sling, as it can lead to suffocation, and might eventually cause death also.
The baby slings are quite popular, as they are quite a fashionable accessory to carry the infants. The parents sling the ‘baby sling’ around their chest to carry the infants. The Consumer Product Safety Commission Chairman Inez Tenenbaum confirmed the news about the warning, and also added that her agency is in the final stages of preparation of the general public warning. She also added that the general public warning of the baby slings is most likely to be released this week.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission Chairman Inez Tenenbaum said that she couldn’t pinpoint any specific slings, as the culprit behind the suffocation deaths. She also refused to comment and discuss on the 7 reported sling related infant deaths.
