U.S. confirms eight Americans dead in Afghan blast
December 31st, 2009 - 2:23 am ICT by BNO News ( Leave a comment )KABUL (BNO NEWS) — An explosion at a U.S. base in eastern Afghanistan on Wednesday killed at least eight Americans, a U.S. official said.
The explosion happened at the Forward Operating Base in Afghanistan’s Khost province, according to a NATO-led ISAF alliance spokesman. NATO said no American or international troops died in the blast, but a high-ranking U.S. official confirmed to BNO News that at least eight Americans had been killed.
The official did not know if they were soldiers or American civilians.
The U.S. Embassy said it was checking on the reports, and had no immediate details.
