chopWashington, July 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Three people, all of them crew members, were killed when a US Coast Guard helicopter landed into the deep waters of the James Island in the LaPush area of Washington. The accident which also injured a fourth crew member took place at around 9.30 yesterday morning. The injured person has been admitted to a hospital in Seattle where doctors have said that he will recover soon.

The MH-60 Jayhawk was on its way to Alaska from the Coast Guard Air Station in Oregon. Gary Blore, the Rear Administrator for the US Coast Guard said that all communication between the Coast Guard and the helicopter was lost once the chopper crashed into water. However rescue operations did not take long to reach the drowning helicopter, and the lone survivor in the crew was quickly brought to shore so that medical facilities could be provided to him as soon as possible. The helicopter though is still submerged in the deep waters of James Island.

The dead bodies of the crew have reached land and search operations are being undertaken in the area where the crash occurred. The Federal Aviation Administration of the United States thus issued a notice with instructions of restricting flight in the area so that the search operations may be conducted unhindered.

The cause of the crash is yet to be known said Gary Blore in a press briefing held after the crash. He said that the accident had hit the Coast Guard hard and his condolences were with the family of the dead. Investigation teams will be launched as soon as the search operations are concluded.
