WASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) – Andrew J. Shapiro, Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, will be traveling to Santiago, Chile for the third session of the U.S.-Chile Political-Military Dialogue.

The session, which is scheduled on April 19-20, 2010, has a wide range of political-military issues on its agenda, including shared strategic challenges in the region and continuing efforts to enhance partnerships in security cooperation, peacekeeping, nonproliferation and disarmament, counter-proliferation efforts, and nuclear security.

The officials will hold talks with Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General Alfonso Silva and other representatives from the Chilean government, building on the success of the previous dialogue, held in 2007 in Washington, D.C.

Shapiro will be leading the U.S. delegation, which will also be comprised by Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Security and Non-Proliferation Philip “Tony” Foley, as well as representatives from the Western Hemisphere Affairs Bureau and the Department of Defense.
