Updated Taliban Code Of Conduct Unveiled

Afghanistan ViolenceAug 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Taliban extremists in Afghanistan have issued a new code of conduct that asks the fighters to evade killing the civilians. They have also been asked not to seize money and weapon. The new rule is aimed at striking chord with the terror stricken residents of the region. However, the new diktat also states that who are working with the Afghan government and the international forces can be killed. Earlier Mullah Mohammad Omar a well-known leader of the Talibans issued a similar stance in June this year.

The Talibans were asked earlier not to hesitate from killing women if they were found associated with the international forces. The new Taliban code of conduct made headway in southern Afghanistan a week back, as sources have reported. The new code of conduct comprises of 69 pages. A copy of the booklet was acquired from a Taliban fighter in Spin Boldak in recent times.

The international forces in Afghanistan has also stressed on the need of evading civilian death during encounters with the Taliban forces. The war between the two sides has entered its 9th year now. The UN findings suggest that the majority of civilian deaths in this period have been caused by Taliban attacks. The suicide attacks and bombings have taken its toll on the civilians over the years. On Monday a Taliban suicide car bomber targeted an Afghan official but ended up killing 6 kids. The Afghan government and NATO has come down on the code of conduct and termed it as propaganda. Last year around 2400 civilians lost their lives in Afghanistan a 14 percent hike from 2008.
