University Of Georgia Bulldog Mascot Uga VII Passes Away

dog1Atlanta, Nov.20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Uga VII, the white bulldog who was the popular and much loved mascot of the University Of Georgia passed away on Thursday in Savannah. The dog who died of heart related ailments was 4 years old at the time of his death.

Uga VII for the first time appeared as a mascot of the University’s football team in the month of August last year during the season opener match. As the bulldog roamed about the sidelines of the field wearing a Georgia jersey, he became a instant hit with all the fans of the team. Frank “Sonny” Seiler, the owner of the dog added that the dog suffered a sudden death that was highly unexpected. At the same time, Frank also emphasized that Uga VII was extremely well behaved on field and the dog also understood to a great extent the importance of the role that he played as a mascot.

The dog had succeeded his father Uga VI as the football team’s mascot after his father had died of heart failure. Since then, the bulldog played his role with elan and as a result he was successful in striking a chord with the fans of college football.

Damon Evans,the director of athletics while reacting to Uga VII’s death added that it was indeed a very tragic day for the Georgia fraternity as well as for the Seiler family and the much acclaimed mascot would sure to be missed immensely. At the same time, officials are yet to decide on the bulldog’s replacement and a decision is likely to be reached sometime next year.
