United States contributes $40 million for Palestinian refugees
February 5th, 2010 - 2:26 am ICT by BNO NewsWASHINGTON D.C. (BNO NEWS) – The United States made a contribution of $40 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the U.S. State Department said on Thursday.
The contribution will support UNRWA budget and emergency programs in Gaza and the West Bank and Health, education and humanitarian services will be provided to 4.7 million Palestinians across the region, the State Department added.
In 2009, The United States contributed with over $267 million to the UNRWA being the largest bilateral donor for this organization.
