Haiti Earthquake pictures GENEVA (BNO NEWS) — A U.N. spokesman on Wednesday said at least fourteen United Nations employees have been killed after a powerful 7.0-magnitude earthquake destroyed most of Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince. Dozens more remain missing.

U.N. spokesman Farhan Haq said the headquarters of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) sustained a “huge amount of damage” during the tremor and said the building collapsed inside.

“Early this morning we have been able to pull out some bodies,” Faq said. The spokesman said although only 14 U.N. staffers have been confirmed dead, the toll is expected to increase much further. Dozens of other employees were also reported injured.

“150 U.N. personnel are still missing or unaccounted for,” Faq said.
